The newspaper that you are holding in your hands as you read this piece, is historic. It is the last printed version of your favourite weekly local newspaper.
As of next week, the 3rd of March 2023, your Bulletin will be delivered directly to your phone, desktop, laptop, tablet and every other smart device you use to stay updated about the real news that affects your every day life.
In 2020, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic Bulletin made the move to muscle up our online presence and it was during this time that we completely overhauled our website to provide a more actual, up to date and user-friendly experience to our readers.
We were the first media agency to make our publications available over WhatsApp messenger and Telegram groups, and we do not charge you a fee to read our articles online. We soon realized that our online following far exceeded our print-readers. In lockdown our videos reached an average of 2 million views and our generic following shot through the roof.
Whilst the nostalgia of a printed newspaper still lingers strong in certain spheres of society, especially among our more mature readers, we must stay with the times.
The world is changing, and if we are to continue serving our community, we must increase the reach of our voice. The only way to successfully highlight the plight of our people, is to ensure that as many people outside of our immediate surroundings, hear our call.
Bulletin celebrates our 20-year anniversary with our community this year and what better way to enter this new growth phase, than with a significant change? This is our coming of age, and we are ecstatic at the opportunities that now lay waiting before us.
Your Bulletin will still be completely free each week, but will feature exciting new add-ons which will include online competitions with our media partners, weekly opinion pieces, interactive discussions directly with our community, live video coverage of breaking news events, interviews with prominent figures in our region and an exciting new daily podcast that will be launched in March.
To join any one of our digital distribution channels, please send us your name and surname to 064 650 7123 via WhatsApp. Go like our page at Far North Bulletin on Facebook and have the option to subscribe to our VIP Lounge where you will have access to exclusive content not available to our regular followers. Follow us on Instagram @bulletintzn for the image of the week and bookmark our website www.farnorthbulletin.co.za where you can read all our articles from the last few years as well as weekly news pieces.
Print may be in its final death throws, but your Bulletin is going nowhere. We are still here, still fearless and still carrying the flag for the truth. It is our time to flex.
