Unicorn Preparatory School’s athletes excelled at the recent schools’ athletics meetings in the area, like the Interschools meeting at Tzaneen Primary School held two weeks ago.

There were however, some athletes who shone a little brighter on the day, like the u/10 Unicorn sprint athlete Katlego Ramoshaba. This junior primary sprinter was the quickest out of the starting blocks in the 100m item at the Interschool’s meeting where he took gold and improved the event’s 15-year-old record of 14.20s to 14.00s.

But he was not the only Unicorn athlete to bring home an Interschool’s gold medal. Makgetsi Mantatha won the shotput item for boys u/12, and in the shotput item for girls u/10, Sandra Spies recorded the furthest distance. Another shotput gold medal came Unicorn’s way when Gomo Moleko, boys u/10, went on to win this item.

Ntoto Mabunda was unbeatable in the high jump item for girls u/12 and recorded a winning height of 1.27m. The Unicorn athletes who qualified to compete at the upcoming Limpopo Athletics Championship on the 11th and 12th of March in Polokwane are William Tasker, Liam du Toit, Alastair Wiltshire, Katlego Ramoshaba, Ntoto Mabunda, Makgetsi Manthata and Ariel Nkuna.
