The first and junior soccer teams of Merensky High School took on the teams of King’s Court on Tuesday the 18th of May. Merensky’s senior team bounced back from their two previous defeats to win their encounter by 2-1, while the juniors comprehensively beat their opponents with a 4-2 victory.
On the 10th of May, Merensky’s senior side played against Stanford Lake College. The Stanfordians however showcased their finesse and flair to won by 5 goals to 1.
The senior team of the Plasies lost out narrowly for a victory against the visiting side of Eric Louw on Saturday the 15th of May. Eric Louw won by 4-3. Tuesday’s winning match against the Kings Court team seemed just to be the confidence booster for their next encounter.
That was until the Department of Education prohibited all schools contact sports, including training sessions, for soccer, rugby and netball to prevent the so-called third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic spreading further amongst school children.
